Enough Is Enough

Sony Pictures Animation has announced they've secured the movie rights to RollerCoaster Tycoon. RollerCoaster Tycoon, of course, is a PC game where you build roller coasters and manage a theme park. This sounds like an absolutely brutal idea for a movie. Is this really where we're at? This is just pathetic.    We can't be far away from Tic Tac Toe: The Movie.

So what kind of douchebag would think making a movie out of this computer game was good idea?  Turns out it's the same douchebag who thought remaking The Karate Kid, with Will Smith's annoying sun in the title role was a good idea.   The douchebag in question is Harald Zwart - the director of Pink Panther 2 - and if you're wary of this dumb idea coupled with his less then impressive resume, it gets worse.  He's hired writers David Ronn and Jay Scherick to develop the screenplay.  These two hacks wrote the abysmal Guess Who's Coming to Dinner reboot Guess Who? (which flipped the races and severed as an Ashton Kutcher vehicle) as well as the Eddie Murphy buried in latex stinker Norbit.

The real question is, how do talentless hacks like these people, paired with an idiotic idea like making a RollerCoaster Tycoon movie somehow get studios to give them tens of millions of dollars?   It doesn't make any sense.
